Periodontitis

Inflammation of the structures that support the teeth, often with few symptoms at first and worth monitoring carefully.

Periodontitis is inflammation of the structures that support the teeth. It affects not only the gums, but also the tissues that hold the tooth in the jaw. At first, patients often notice little; possible signs include bleeding gums, swelling, bad breath, or loosening teeth.

To assess it, we measure gum pockets and check how stable the teeth are, among other things. Depending on the findings, further diagnostics, systematic cleaning of the pockets, and closer follow-up may be useful.

Treatment aims to control the inflammation and support home care. Which steps fit depends on the findings, general health, and individual risk factors.
